de Garde Brewing – A World Class Brewery on the Oregon Coast
de Garde Brewing is a very unique, very wonderful brewery.
What makes them unique? de Gaede focuses on spontaneously fermented wild ales & farmhouse ales, they use a coolship*, and they are relentless in their commitment to using Oregon products. When I interviewed De Garde Founding Brewer & Co-founder Trevor Rogers for the Craft Beer Podcast he was very passionate about brewing with Oregon bounty whenever possible.

What make them so very wonderful? The best way to get the answer to that question is make the pilgrimage out to Tillamook, Oregon on the Oregon Coast and see for yourself. Lots of craft beer fans who love in the Portland area do that very thing, and some of them make the hour + drive out to de Garde on a regular basis. The beer is that good.
Founding Brewer Trevor Rogers and Co-founder Linsey Rogers had a definite vision for their brewery long before they opened de Garde and the beer you will enjoy comes out of that vision.
To hear Trevor talk about how De Garde came to be check out Craft Beer Podcast Episode 132 – Trevor Rogers de Garde Brewing https://www.thecraftbeerpodcast.com/trevor-rogers-de-garde-brewing-craft-beer-podcast-episode-132/ I hope to be able to interview Linsey Rogers for the Craft Beer Podcast sometime soon.
Take note – The de Garde Brewing Tasting room is a place to have a beer – They don’t serve food, just fantastic beer. Also, the vast majority of the beer that de Garde brews is sold out of their tasting room. They brew about 1000 barrels a year at de Garde, so there is not a lot to go around.
If you are a craft beer devotee and you happen to be visiting the Pacific Northwest, I highly encourage to plan your trip to include a journey out to Tillamook to visit de Garde – you won’t regret it.
